University of Georgia College of Education faculty member Sheneka Williams has been named associate director for policy and advocacy for the University Council for Educational Administration, a consortium of higher education institutions committed to advancing the preparation and practice of educational leaders for the benefit of schools and children.
In this role Williams will promote UCEA through policy advocacy work by influencing the organization’s policy agenda, developing coalitions with other national education organizations and of educational leadership policy faculty, and engaging UCEA leadership faculty in the policy process through the development of policy relevant research briefs, policy reviews, policy briefs, and legislative visits to Washington, D.C.
Williams’ research interests focus on student assignment policies, school governance and the impact on school communities, magnet schools and desegregation.
Williams, an assistant professor in the department of lifelong education, administration, and policy, joined the UGA faculty in 2007.
