Campbell is a professor in the department of counseling and human development services and director of UGA’s Center for Counseling.

University of Georgia College of Education professor Linda Campbell has received the 2012 APA Education Advocacy Distinguished Service Award for her longstanding leadership and tireless efforts to advocate for psychology education and training.

The APA Award is the only Education Advocacy Distinguished Service recognition given by the APA Education Directorate. The award is given to members whose work and activities have influenced or gained the support from members of Congress for psychology internships and other essential training experiences.

Campbell, a professor in the department of counseling and human development services and director of the University of Georgia’s Center for Counseling, has dedicated 15 years to promoting education advocacy as a member of APA governance.

In January, Campbell was one of only 10 psychologists in the nation to receive an APA Presidential Citation.  The APA president selects honorees for the award from those who have made distinguished contributions to the profession from among 150,000 members of the APA.

As a member of APA Federal Education Advocacy grassroots network, Campbell was the first author of the APA’s Ethics Code Commentary and Case Illustrations book in 2010. The APA’s Code of Ethics is the most accepted set of standards for professional behavior of psychologists.

Campbell is a member of the APA Council of Representatives, the APA Policy and Planning Board and is vice-president of the Georgia State Board of Examiners of Psychology.
