Speaker Bio: Michael Ferrara’s research has focused on clinical
decision making and return to play decision following
sport-related concussion. He was a co-author
on the NATA Positi on Statement on Management of
Sport- Related Concussion. He is also currently studying
exerti onal heat illness (EHI) in Georgia to evaluate
the number and rate of EHI’s in the interscholasti c
football athletes to design safe practi ce guidelines for
preseason football based on scientific data. He was director
of medical operati ons for the Atlanta Paralympic
Games (1995-96) and director of medical services
for the 1992 Barcelona Paralympic Games and United
States Disabled Sports Team at the World Athleti cs
Championships (1994).
