Two COE grads in UGA’s innaugural ’40 Under 40′

Two College of Education alumni, Brian Bordainick (’07 BSEd, ’07 AB) and Lisa Gipson (’95 BSFCS, ’01 MEd), were named to be in the inaugural 2011 class of UGA’s 40 Under 40, recently published by the University of Georgia Alumni Association.

Nominations opened in February and more than 450 young alumni were nominated from around the world. Each submission was evaluated on the following criteria:

  • demonstrated impact in business, leadership, community, educational and/or philanthropic endeavors;
  • proven dedication to The University of Georgia and its mission of teaching, researching and service;
  • represents the very best of UGA graduates.

Bordainick

Bordainick, who received a bachelor’s degree in social science education, was featured in a Georgia Magazine (March 2011) article titled, “Building on Dreams.”

Gipson

Gipson, who serves as manager for learning and development for Chick-fil-A Restaurants, earned her master’s degree in adult education. She is highly involved with the College of Family and Consumer Science, and has received college’s Outstanding Service Award and served as president of the FACS Alumni Association.

The inaugural class of 40 Under 40 will be celebrated at an awards luncheon at the InterContinental Buckhead on Sept. 15, 2011. In addition to be being recognized at the luncheon honorees will be:

  • listed on the UGA Alumni Association’s 40 Under 40 web page ()www.uga.edu/alumni40U40);
  • featured in the December 2011 issue of Georgia Magazine;
  • included in a UGA press release listing the honorees in alphabetical order;
  • receiving a commemorative award at the event;
  • awarded two tickets to the UGA vs. Coastal Carolina game on Sept. 17.
