Glazer (PhD '03) chats with UGA students after treating them to yogurt one night during their visit to Washington D.C. where they did volunteer work in neighborhoods as part of UGA's Alternative Spring Break program.
COE alumnus and principal of the No. 1 ranked high school in the nation Evan Glazer (PhD ’03) treated about 20 UGA students to dinner and walk to the White House during the students’ Alternative Spring Break trip to Washington, D.C. in March.
Glazer, who received his doctorate from the UGA College of Education in instructional technology, is principal of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Va. He treated the UGA students to dinner and a walk to the White House to show his appreciation for the work they did in his city.
About 20 UGA students participated in the Alternative Spring Break program focused on homelessness and poverty in Washington, D.C. The students worked at CCNV, the largest homeless shelter in the country, working alongside former homeless individuals at DC Central Kitchen to prepare over 4,000 meals daily for the hungry and at Kid’s Power, an after-school program for inner-city children during the week of March 14-18.
