2.1 Speaker, Sam Stern, was introduced by Mike Dyrenfurth.
4.2 Rod Custer, JITE Editor, presented recognition of outstanding manuscripts. Recipients were Christian A. Chinien, France Boutin, and Charles Letteri for the outstanding research manuscript, Michael Knoll for outstanding conceptual manuscript, and Richard Satchwell for outstanding dissertation-based manuscript.
4.3 Thomas Bell, editor of the ITE Directory, presented the current issue of the ITE Directory and commented on its preparation and successful production.

5.2 Officer reports were provided in printed form at the tables for review by members attending.
5.3 Jeff Flesher presented the Treasurer's report and commented on significant points. In particular the $5,000 gift left to NAITTE by Nevin Frantz in his will was noted as well as the fact that expenditures have exceeded income slightly for the past several years.
5.4 Scott Johnson conducted the installation of officers for the 1997-98 term.
5.5 Sam explained that the $5,000 left by Nevin to the NAITTE was a challenge grant. He was aware that NAITTE was investigating formation of a foundation. Nevin left $5000 contingent upon a matching $5000 being raised by the Association through a new foundation that might be formed to support the Association. The report of the foundation task force was summarized, including the recommendation that the constitution be amended to allow for the formation of the foundation and a separate governing structure for that foundation.
5.6 Mike Dyrenfurth presented an address as incoming president that reflected on the path that brought him to the position he was entering at this time. He also commented on the future of NAITTE and the challenges ahead.
5.7 Final remarks were presented by Mike Dyrenfurth and the meeting was adjourned at 8:40.
