Science Education

Suggested Timeline

  • Complete UGA Core requirements (Areas A-E)
    Work with Advising Program in Aderhold Hall, Rm. G-10 for guidance

  • Once Areas A-E have been fulfilled, apply to Department of Science Education for Admission to the Science Education Department Undergraduate Program (link to: doesn't exist yet--will obtain and later label as D ).
    Admission to Science Education Department requires a 2.5 GPA.

  • After acceptance into Department, work on Area F and other requirements (click on desired specialization area to see complete listing of all required courses):

  • Complete all coursework except for the requirements under the heading "Science Education".
    During this phase, student should call the Science Education office (706-542-1763) and get advisement on course of study from an assigned advisor. As well, student must gain admission to Teacher Education. Both of these are MANDATORY before going on to the next step of this time line. For requirements and appropriate forms for admission to Teacher Education, please go to Aderhold Hall, Room 315.

  • Apply for Admission to Secondary Program Block Courses
    The "Block Courses" are the final coursework completed prior to graduation with the Bachelor's degree and Georgia certification. MUST BE ALREADY ADMITTED TO TEACHER EDUCATION BEFORE APPLICATION CAN BE CONSIDERED.

  • Add name to list for Block courses.

  • Register for Block courses.

  • Complete Block I courses and Block II courses
    Block I must be taken before Block II courses.
