The Eddie Griffin Memorial Award
For the Outstanding Position Paper
Submitted by a Graduate Student

The Southeastern Association for Science Teacher Education (SASTE) invites graduate students to submit position papers on the theme for the 2005 Annual SASTE Conference: The Journey from Powerful Ideas to Classroom Practice.

The award carries a cash stipend of $50.

Submission deadline is September 5, 2005.

The award for Outstanding Graduate Students Position Paper will be presented at the 2005 Annual SASTE Conference on the campus of the University of Georgia on October 15, 2005.

Please note this is an award for a position paper related to the conference theme, not a conference presentation or research paper.


Guidelines for Submission


I. Papers should be typed, double-spaced, on letter-size white paper. Ten (10) pages maximum, five (pages) minimum, not including the cover sheet.

II. The cover sheet should contain the title for the paper, the name(s), title(s), institution(s), and complete address(es) of the author(s), and a telephone number where the author(s) may be reached by September 23, 2005.

III. The title should be centered at the top of the first page of the text. The author(s) names should not be included.

IV. The paper should be original and generally follow the format prescribed in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), fifth edition.

Position papers may be submitted by e-mail to tkoballa@uga.edu no later than September 5, 2005. The position paper should be in Word (doc) or rich text format (rtf) attachments please.

Please include "GRADUATE POSITION PAPER PROPOSAL" in the subject.

The recipient(s) of this award will be expected to attend the conference to present a 4-5 minute synopsis of their position paper. In the event of multiple authorship, authors will share the award.
