Undergraduate Requirements for Admission to Teacher Education

Admission to Teacher Education for undergraduate Mathematics Education majors requires the following:

  • Completion of at least one semester at UGA;
  • An overall grade point average of at least 2.5;
  • Successful completion of ENGL 1101, 1102 (C or better);
  • Successful completion of MATH 2250 and 2260 (C or better);
  • Successful completion of EFND 2030  or equivalent (C or better);
  • Successful completion of EMAT 3500 or equivalent (C or better);
  • Successful completion of three MATH courses at the 3000 level or higher (C or better);
  • Successful completion of the Regents Examination and of PRAXIS I (or exemption);
  • Oral language competency;
  • Criminal background check (get application notarized and pay fee in 122 Aderhold).

An overall GPA of 2.5 must be maintained once admitted to Teacher Education; otherwise the student must reapply for admittance to Teacher Education.
