Research Interests My ongoing research interests lie in the relationships between classroom discourse and literary understanding. More recently I have been studying how standards and mandated assessments are affecting the lives of literacy teachers and how new digital media are affecting the literate lives of adolescents. Courses Taught I regularly teach courses in the teaching of reading and in the teaching of literature, and I have recently taught doctoral seminars on research and policy in teacher education and on reading literature as social practice.
