M.Ed. in TESOL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Purpose of the M.Ed.

The program is designed for students seeking advanced professional preparation and study in teaching English as a second or additional language to children, adolescents, or adults in the U.S. or abroad. A wide range of program offerings and electives accommodates student needs and interests.

Please note: This program does NOT provide initial certification to teach ESOL in U.S. public schools. If you are seeking initial certification to teach in Georgia K-12 schools, please see information on the "MAT Plus Certification" program.

The program consists of 36 credit hours or 12 courses in the following areas: Teaching methods, Second language acquisition, English language study, Literacy, Cultural awareness, and Research methods.
