Teaching of Additional LanguagesTESOL International Graduate Assistantship Internship Program (LLED 7768 & LLED 7769)What are LLED 7768 and LLED 7769? UGA and Regents' policies require that all new graduate teaching and laboratory assistants receive support for their instructional roles. LLED 7768 and 7769 are designed specifically for international graduate students whose native language is not English and who wish to work as graduate teaching assistants or laboratory assistants. The courses are taught by faculty in the Department of Language Education. In addition, these courses are valuable for any student who wishes to improve his or her oral English skills in the context of a graduate credit course. Who must take LLED 7768 and 7769? Students with scores of 40 or below on the TSE/SPEAK test or 22 or below on the iBTOEFL/TAST Speaking section must complete successfully LLED 7768 (3 credits). Students who have not taken the TSE/SPEAK, TAST, or iBTOEFL test are also required to enroll in LLED 7768. Students with scores of 45 on the TSE or SPEAK test or 23-25 on the TAST/iBTOEFL must complete successfully LLED 7769 (3 credits). Students who have already attained TSE/SPEAK or TAST/iBTOEFL scores that qualify them to serve as graduate teaching or laboratory assistants may yet wish to enroll in LLED 7769 or 7769 to further improve their oral English and instructional communication skills. Check with the Office of Instructional Support and Development for more information about these courses. Who administers the iBTOEFL test on campus? The Department of Language and Literacy Education does not administer the iBTOEFL test. The iBTOEFL test is administered by University Testing Services.
