This program is designed for pre-college teachers who have earned a master’s degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, or a related program such as Bilingual Education, Foreign Language Education, Elementary or Middle School Education. The program consists of 10 courses (30 semester hours) beyond the master’s program and leads to T-6 Georgia teacher certification. Courses for endorsements in Reading, Gifted Education, or Educational Leadership may be included in the program of study.
Deadlines for application: November 15, January 1, and April 1.
Be sure to use these deadlines rather than those from the Graduate School. Your application will not be reviewed unless all materials are received by the deadline. U.S. applicants should allow 6-8 weeks for all materials (test scores and transcripts are slow to arrive) to be received. International students should allow even more time (2-3 months) — therefore, it is extremely important that international students use the web for information and applications.
Your application must be completed and received by January 1 in order to be considered for financial aid or an assistantship.
If you are seeking financial aid (an assistantship, tuition waiver, or university fellowship), you will also need to fill out and submit a separate financial aid application. This form must be printed and mailed directly to the Department of Language Education (not the Graduate School).
Please read the following information carefully and follow instructions.
Applications for our program are made to the Graduate School.
Please visit the http://www.grad.uga.edu/ for application forms and important information. From that site, you may print and mail the application, apply online using a credit card, or ask the Graduate School to mail you an application.
You will need to indicate a “major code” on your application. The major code for the Ed.S. degree in TESOL and World Language Education is 855A.
Send to the Graduate Secretary in the Department of Language & Literacy Education: at least 3 letters of recommendation, statement of purpose (background and reasons for pursuing graduate study), resume/vita.
Online applications are available at http://www.uga.edu/gradschool/admissions/request.html
REMINDER: Online applicants can now only submit an online form if they pay by credit card or electronic check.
