Masters Programs - Application Procedure

Please read the following information carefully and follow instructions.
Applications for our program are made to the Graduate School.
Please visit the University of Georgia Graduate School website for application forms and important information. From that site, you may print and mail the application, apply online using a credit card, or ask the Graduate School to mail you an application. You may apply online from http://www.uga.edu/gradschool/admissions/request.html.

You will need to indicate a “major code” on your application. The major code for the master’s degree (M.Ed.) in TESOL is 190. You also will need to choose the specialization option for “TESOL” that appears on the application form.
Online applicants must pay by credit card or electronic check.
- 2 official copies of transcripts from all of degrees conferred institutions
- official scores from GRE: The Department of Language and Literacy Education recommends a total verbal plus quantitative GRE score of at least 900 (for GRE tests taken before August 2011) or a score of 290 (for GRE tests taken after August 2011) but will consider GRE scores in light of the merits of the entire application package.
Please email as an attachment to our Degree Program Specialist, Becky Hendren, bhendren@uga.edu the following:
- statement of purpose (background and reasons for pursuing graduate study)
- resume/vita
- Letters of Recommendation
Graduate Admissions will ask you to submit 3 email addresses of recommenders for your Letters of Recommendation and the recommenders will be contacted to submit letters of recommendation for your application file which will be added to your application
