Masters Programs - Prerequisites
A minimum of 7 English courses above general education requirements.
Students will have coursework in Shakespeare, British literature, American literature and 20th Century literature.
In addition, students must have a course in Language Study (history of the English language, grammar, linguistics or related course.)
Electives (Related courses such as Comparative Literature, Drama, Speech, Journalism, etc. may count provided the courses emphasize literature or written or oral language components relevant to teaching secondary school English.)

- Official test scores will be sent from EITS. The “institutional code” is 5813.
- 3 letters of recommendation. As you apply online via Graduate Admissions, you will be asked to submit 3 email addresses of recommenders. Graduate Admissions will contact the recommenders to submit letters of recommendation online. These letters will be downloaded for your application file.
