MAT Exit Portfolio/Comprehensive Exam Requirements
Students will develop an electronic exit portfolio that they will submit in lieu of a comprehensive exam. The Exit Portfolio provides students with an opportunity to reflect on and synthesize their experiences in the program with respect to (a) their professional goals and (b) the six elements outlined in the Georgia Framework for Teaching. Contents of the Portfolio:
- Title page with name and date.
- Student’s resume/vita.
- Evidence of accomplishment, with commentary on each of the six GSTEP Framework Elements: content and curriculum, knowledge of students and their learning, learning environments, assessment, planning and instruction, and professionalism.
Evidence of Accomplishment and Commentary
Organize evidence of your accomplishments as a teacher in accordance with the six elements of the Georgia Framework for Teaching. Your evidence of accomplishment may consist of:
- your writing (e.g., papers, journals, poems, etc.)
- documents (e.g., lesson plans and other classroom artifacts, student work, mentor evaluations, etc.)
- graphics (e.g.,drawings, photographs, diagrams, etc.)
Include a minimum of three items for each element. Provide a brief abstract explaining what the item is and why you think it can stand as evidence of your accomplishment as a teacher candidate.
Write a commentary for each of the six elements, based on the evidence you have provided. The commentary should help you identify future goals in each of the six elements.
Evaluation Criteria
Satisfactory/Pass will be awarded to portfolios that
- are turned in on time,
- include the minimum components,
- meet minimum expectations for each component.
Unsatisfactory/Fail will be awarded to portfolios that:
- are turned in after the specified due date.
- are turned in on time but do not include the minimum components (cover page, resume, and 3 exhibits).
the components do not meet minimum expectations (e.g., the synthesis paper is under 10 pages long or does not fulfill expectations specified above, the exhibits do not fulfill expectations specified above, the resume does not conform to the minimum features outlined by the career placement office).
