Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Language & Literacy Education with specialization in TESOL and World Language Education
This doctoral program prepares graduates to construct knowledge that leads and advances the field of language and literacy education, with a particular focus on educational linguistics and multilingual pedagogies. Our internationally renowned faculty carry out research in the areas of second language acquisition, bilingual education, (bi)literacy instruction and assessment, immigration and language policy, foreign and world language education, practitioner inquiry, teacher education, and professional development, corpus linguistics, systemic functional linguistics, pedagogy and theatre of the oppressed, poetry and poetic inquiry, arts-based research and pedagogies, and Spanish/Latino/immigrant children’s literature. Students are prepared for careers in research and teaching.
