M.Ed. in HRODThe Human Resource and Organizational Development (HROD) program is designed for working professionals interested in doing human resource development, training and development, and/or organization development in a variety of settings, including business and industry, non-profit organizations, government agencies, educational setting, and communities. Established by the Board of Regents of the State University System of Georgia in 1996, over 100 people have graduated from the program. The Academy of Human Resource Development named our program Outstanding Academic Program in 2006. This award recognizes programs for a continuous record of excellence demonstrated by the caliber of full-time faculty, progressive/innovative curriculum and courses, publications by faculty and students, placement of graduates, and involvement of the faculty in the service to the organizations and communities. Nationally recognized faculty are dedicated to ensuring quality education and building personal relationships with students. Students in the M.Ed. in HROD program study a curriculum that connects academic knowledge and theories with practical application. Each class emphasizes enhancing your knowledge of essential theory and concepts, making connections with practice and applying concepts to your own practice, and fostering deep reflection. This program is suitable for part-time and full-time students. Courses in the HROD curriculum are offered both in Athens on the beautiful UGA campus and in Gwinnett . In Gwinnett, classes are offered on a rotation plan that allows part-time students to complete the program of study in two years. Most of the HROD courses in both locations are offered weeknight evenings, with the occasional weekend seminar or workshop. Courses include some that meet in a traditional face-to-face format and others that use distance learning technologies and Web-based instruction. The HROD program seeks applications from graduates of accredited colleges and universities from all academic areas. The program is appropriate for students who are interested in entering the field of Human Resource Development as well as mid-career professionals who are either changing careers or who want to enhance their HRD credentials. HROD is a broad field and the M.Ed. in HROD provides excellent opportunities for career development. Graduates of the HROD program will be prepared to pursue careers that emphasize training and/or organizational development. Graduates of this program may also pursue Doctoral degrees.
