Materials Required for Applying

As the first step of the graduate admissions process, applicants collect information about their academic professional experiences and submit them to the university.
The standard application package of the University of Georgia requires that all applicants to graduate school send the following materials directly to the Graduate Admissions Office:

  • A completed application form.
  • Official test score reports.
  • Official transcripts from colleges and universities attended in the past.

The Department of Adult Education requires that the following additional materials be sent directly to the Graduate Coordinator (Graduate Coordinator, Department of Adult Education, River's Crossing, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia 30602).
Additional Materials for Master's and Educational Specialist Applicants

  • Three letter of reference submitted electronically as described and provided by the University of Georgia Graduate School Admissions.
  • A current resume or curriculum vitae.
  • A personal statement, usually in the form of a letter, indicating an applicant's [a] background and interest in adult education and [b] career aspirations in adult education.

Additional Materials for Ph.D. Applicants

  • Three letter of reference submitted electronically as described and provided by the University of Georgia Graduate School Admissions.
  • A current resume or curriculum vitae.
  • A personal statement, usually in the form of a letter, indicating an applicant's [a] background and interest in adult education, [b] career aspirations in adult education, and [c] experience and interest in educational research.
  • Two or three samples of an applicant's formal writing. Scholarly or academic writing is preferred--whether or not it has been published. If applicants have not published anything relevant, recent course papers or work-related reports are appropriate.
