*For candidates who do not hold a master’s degree in educational leadership or have the previously approved Georgia add-on certification in educational leadership, GaPSC rule 505-3-.58 requires candidates to complete pre-service educational leadership requirements prior to beginning the core content and leadership residency sequence. The pre-service leadership courses count toward the 30 semester hours required for the Specialist in Education degree.
Candidates who successfully complete the 30 semester hours program and pass the appropriate state-approved content assessment will be recommended for a clear renewable, Performance-Based Leadership (PL) certificate at the building or system level. Candidates may add the other leadership level (building or system) by being assigned to a leadership role or position at the other level and then completing the program requirements for that level.
