Before the Trip:

Immunizations:
Numerous immunizations are recommended for traveling to Kenya, however none are required. Make the necessary plans with your school health center or family doctor before the departure date. Kenyan immigration may request evidence for yellow fever immunization at immigration. Expect to pay a total of up to two or three hundred dollars, depending on the place, and the shots and prophylaxis (malarial) you choose to receive.

Passport/ID/VISA: One should apply for a U.S. passport:
http://travel.state.gov/passport_services.html at least two months before the trip. This is done in a U.S. Post Office and costs about $85. An international student ID is necessary and can be obtained at University of Georgia's Office of International Education for $22 (allow at least two weeks). As of March 15, the Kenyan Government has made the decision to charge a $50 visa fee for all U.S. citizens entering Kenya. Our visas are obtained by prior arrangements at the airport upon arrival in Kenya (Note: it is illegal to take photographs of Kenyatta International Airport).
