Graduate Research Assistantship Stipend

Purpose and Description

This fund was established in 1984 to provide assistantship support for outstanding students in the areas of Kinesiology, and Recreation and Leisure Studies.

Eligibility and Award

One $2,000 Graduate Research Assistantship stipend award is available to a doctoral student in Department of Kinesiology or in the Recreation and Leisure Studies program of the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services. The stipend is to be used to pay a summer assistantship stipend or to supplement a stipend during the next academic year. 

Application and Criteria

Applicants should submit: (1) a formal letter of application summarizing their academic achievements and potential, career goals and research plans for the remainder of their doctoral program; (2) undergraduate and graduate program transcripts; letter of support from advisor, and (3) a resume or vita. Electronic copies of the application materials (Word or pdf documents) should be sent at e-mail attachments to Marlee Stewart (mmstew@uga.edu) in the Kinesiology Department Office by 5 pm on March 30. Letter of support from advisor should be sent as an e-mail attachement directly to Ms. Stewart. Ms. Stewart can help prepare pdf documents needed.  Applications will be reviewed by a faculty committee.  Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement and demonstrated potential in their field.
