Major in Sport Management (B.S.Ed.)

Description of the Program: The major focuses on a study of sport from economic, political, cultural, philosophical, historical, sociological and behavioral perspectives, with an emphasis on sport business. A joint major with the A. B.J. in magazines and newspapers or publication management is available.

Career Opportunities: The burgeoning sport industry accounts for 4.5 million jobs and $100 billion in annual revenues. Jobs in sports-related careers in the retail sporting goods industry, sports facilities management, recreational sport management and sports broadcasting are plentiful.

Entrance Requirements:

Expectations of Transfer Students - Students transferring at the third year level should have completed Areas A, C, D, E and F in The University of Georgia Core Curriculum.

Special Requirements - A grade of C or better in all required courses.

Entrance Requirements

Completion of Core Areas A-E. Overall GPA of 2.3 and an essay addressing background related to sports, career goals, and how a sport management major complements career goals. Application deadlines: third Friday in January, June and September. This is a high demand major. After meeting the entrance requirements, students will be selected based on the following high-demand selection criteria.
