ramsey computer centerThis program option is designed to provide additional training in statistics, measurement, computer applications, and research procedures. No practicum or internship experience is required. This training prepares the student for graduate work in measurement at the master's degree level. The emphasis is on applying measurement theory and concepts to physical performance rather than intellectual ability. After receiving the master's degree in measurement in exercise science, the student will have the ability to select, apply and modify existing measurement techniques, and develop new measurement procedures appropriate to the exercise science setting.

Students receiving a master's degree in the measurement area are qualified for positions as a measurement specialist in fitness program, research labs, research institutes, etc., housed in universities, industries, hospitals, and military installations. A few measurement specialists are working with insurance companies, police and fire departments and professional sports teams in physical performance testing and pre-employment screening.
