Fitness Center and Programs
The Fitness Center and Clinical Testing Laboratory (7,100 sq ft) supports service activities, teaching and research for the Clinical Exercise Physiology (M.Ed.), and Exercise Physiology (M.A. and Ph.D.) and Exercise Science (Ed.D) programs. The service programs in Adult Fitness, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Stress Testing and Fitness Evaluation are designed as laboratory experiences for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the fitness area. Various practicum and internship experiences are coordinated through the Fitness Center to enhance the student’s practical experience. The latest equipment and techniques are used in evaluating fitness and prescribing exercise. Students in the Exercise Science Department have access to the equipment and facilities of the Fitness Center and Clinical Testing Laboratory in conducting research under the guidance of their major professor. The Fitness Center consists of approximately 3,200 sq ft of exercise space with cycle ergometers, treadmills, lifecycles, universal weight equipment and the necessary emergency equipment to operate a Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. The Clinical Testing Laboratory utilizes the latest integrated treadmills and electrocardiography along with an emergency defibrillator and crash cart for physician supervised stress testing. |
