Expertise and Research Interests My current research interests and areas of expertise are: Lower extremity biomechanics Mechanics of total hip and knee arthroplasties Impact attenuation and internal joint forces Evaluation of lower extremity prostheses and orthotics Sport-related equipment, including footwear Factors influencing gait, running Motor coordination development

faculty pic Dr. Cathy Brown

 

Cathy Brown joined the athletic training faculty at UGA in August of 2006 as an assistant professor after finishing both her PhD (2006) and MA (2002) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cathy acts as clinical coordinator for the athletic training education program and currently teaches several undergraduate athletic training courses. She has been a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 2000. Cathy completed her BA in 2000 at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, majoring in Exercise Science. Her research interests include the biomechanics of lower extremity sports injuries, particularly chronic ankle instability, with a secondary interest in sports-related concussion. She is pursuing this research agenda as co-director of the Biomechanics Laboratory.
