Undergraduate Athletic Training Education ProgramGENERAL INFORMATION Athletic Training is an allied health profession that is recognized by the American Medical Association. Certified Athletic Trainers, under the direction of a licensed physician, provide health care for athletes and those who are physically active within six areas of clinical practice: prevention, clinical evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration and professional responsibilities. The University of Georgia Athletic Training Education Program The athletic training education program (ATEP) is housed in the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Education. The Bachelor of Education degree program was granted it initial accreditation for five years by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) http://caate.net/. Students in the ATEP received academic knowledge and clinical proficiency in the following domains of athletic training clinical practice:
Upon completion of all degree requirements, students are eligible to take the national board examination given by the Board of Certification (BOC) which is required to practice as a Certified Athletic Trainer in forty-nine states. |
