ATHLETIC TRAINING TECHNICAL STANDARDS

To assure the health and safety of the athletic training student and the patients with whom they work, all students must meet the Technical Standards to ensure they have sufficient abilities to meet the requirements of the ATEP.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATON AND IMMUNIZATION RECORDS

Upon admission to the University of Georgia as a freshman, the student must supply a record of their immunization history to the University Health Center.  Once admitted into the ATEP, the student must have a completed physical examination prior to beginning their first clinical education course (EXRS 3910).  The requirements for the physical examination are explained during the pre-professional phase in EXRS 2470 and at the orientation meeting upon acceptance into the ATEP.

STUDENT-ATHLETES

The ATEP supports student-athletes who are enrolled in the ATEP curriculum.  Student-athletes will participate in their clinical experience during the non-competitive season.  A 5th year may be required to fulfill all the academic and clinical requirements of the athletic training program.  Close cooperation between the student-athlete, ATEP Program Director and Coach is necessary to plan the appropriate educational experience.
