Sport Management Programs


The Department of Kinesiology offers undergraduate and graduate programs in sport management.  The undergraduate major in sport management provides students a foundation in the social, economic, ethical and legal factors affecting the management and administration of sport organizations.  The program prepares students for careers in a variety of sport businesses and organizations, including professional sport teams, college athletic departments, sport communication and public relations firms, sports agencies, and health and fitness facilities.  The Kinesiology graduate program specialization in sport management and policy provides the opportunity for advanced study and research.  The graduate curriculum addresses the economic, legal, social, and ethical, issues affecting the sport industry.  In addition to the application of business and management principles, the programs evaluate the place of sport in society, examine the historical, sociological, and philosophical dimensions of sport and government, sport governing organization and industry policies as they apply to sports. The graduate programs prepare graduates for a variety of positions in the sport industry and academia.

Under the graduate major in Kinesiology are specializations in Exercise Science (Athletic Training, Biomechanics, Clincial Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Psychology, and General Exercise Science), Physical Education (Pedagogy and Motor Behavior) and Sport Management (Sport Management and Policy).
