Physical Education Programs - Faculty
Drs. Michael Horvat, Dr. Lesley White, Dr. Ellen Evans and Ted Baumgartner are the primary advisors for students in the program. Dr. Horvat’s primary interests are strength and conditioning for improvement of athletic performance, and exercise for special needs and disabled individuals. Dr. White’s primary interests are related to conditioning for health and fitness, improvement of athletic performance, and therapeutic exercise for individuals with disabilities and special populations. Dr. Evans primary interests are related to conditioning for health and fitness, personal training and exercise for diseased individuals or special populations. Dr. Baumgartner’s interests are in measurement and evaluation, and fitness and physical performance assessment. Other faculty in the Department who teach or may advise students in the program include: Kevin McCully and Michael Schmidt (exercise physiology), Dr. Kathy Simpson (biomechanics), Dr. Phillip Tomporowski (exercise psychology and motor behavior), Drs. Bryan McCullick and Paul Schempp (pedagogy), Drs. Patrick O’Connor and Rod Dishman (exercise psychology), and Dr. Bud Cooper (athletic training).
