WebQuest

What are they?

An inquiry-oriented curriculum unit which most (not necessarily all) information used by students is online. Rather than spending time looking for information, resources are pre-selected so that the student will be able to focus on the material. The five-parts of WebQuest are Introduction, Task, Resources, Process, Evaluation, and Conclusion. The WebQuest promotes critical thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The WebQuest is usually completed in groups and each student in the group then has a "role," or specific area to research. The WebQuest motivates students to find, synthesize, and analyze information in a hands-on fashion while actively constructing their own understanding of the material.
