Digital Video Camera

What are they?

Digital video cameras include camcorders that record to Digital8, Mini DV, hard drive, and DVD formats. Because movies are recorded digitally, they can be uploaded to computers through FireWire or sometimes USB 2.0 cables for inclusion in digital stories.

Most digital still cameras can also record digital video. However, the video is inferior in quality and the recording time limited. Some web cameras can also take video by shooting several still pictures and using software to put them together. While these webcams are less expensive than other forms of digital video cameras, they usually require an additional microphone, a computer, and proprietary software.
