National Women's History Project

Promotes gender equity through education about women's diverse lives and accomplishments. Serves as a clearinghouse for women's history information, resources, activities, and programming ideas. NWHP staff also develop posters and planning guides, produce videos, conduct teacher-training workshops, and issue semi-annual, mail-order catalogs of materials about women in United States history.


National Women's History Project--Classroom materials about women in science and mathematics.

The National Women's History Project has selected 23 catalog items featuring women in science and mathematics. These items range from CD-ROMs, full-color posters, biographies, booklets and display sets, T-shirts, buttons, and magnets. One example is the award-winning CD-ROM for grades 5 and up: "Telling Our Stories." It features women working in astronomy, biology, chemistry, animal communication, geology, and physics; the stories are told using interactive experiments, voice interviews, multimedia field trips, and photos. There are several other items which could be used in elementary and middle school classrooms to promote gender equity.
