General Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.
- Have received his/her degree (bachelor's degree minimum in Latin America, master's degree minimum in southern Africa, and doctoral degree minimum in the U.S.A.) in adult education or a closely related field ,after January 1, 1995. Documentation of degree status will be requested from all finalists.
- Be in the early years of his/her scholarly work and have demonstrated promise as a scholar with significant potential to advance the field of adult education.
- Be currently employed within the region in which their country of citizenship is located. Documentation of citizenship will be requested for all finalists.
- Participate in all activities related to the Cyril Houle Scholars Program during the two-year program period. These activities include:
- The completion of a self-designed research and/or demonstration project.
- Submission of progress reports on a regular basis.
- Attendance at two annual retreats. Because of the design and purpose of the program, spouses or dependents may not attend the functions of annual retreats.**
- Participation in networking activities.**
**Some proficiency in English is required to participate in these two activities.
