Christmas at Callaway's Fantasy in Lights

Free passes to Fantasy in Lights at Callaway Gardens were distributed to advocates and their families attending the December meeting.

The purpose of this activity, in addition to just having a good time, was to provide an opportunity for Barrier Busters to assess the accessibility of this annual event.

Anyone who attended the event is encouraged to give us some feedback, so that we in turn may notify the staff at Callaway Gardens of any suggestions we might have for making this event completely ěBarrier Freeî to all who visit this area during the holidays.

Special thanks to David Smith of the Engineering Department at Callaway Gardens for his help in obtaining the complimentary passes for Barrier Busters.

Iron-On Logos Available

Last summer's August meeting of the Meriwether County Barrier Busters included a discussion about identifying ourselves in the schools and communities. A suggestion was made to develop a logo and have some T-shirts made to wear, especially during events surrounding advocacy for people with disabilities.

Following the November meeting, the logo was reproduced using a personal computer and special iron-on paper for free distribution to any interested advocates. See Margie McCoy or Deborah Smith to get yours.

Although you are at liberty to use your own creative instincts when producing a shirt to wear, it has been suggested that the iron-ons are best used on white or light gray t-shirts or sweatshirts.

Name tags for people attending meetings have also been prepared using the logo. Thanks to Phil Chase and the Human Services Management Institute at UGA for providing the materials to produce the iron-ons.

Additionally, there is a local musician with his own recording studio who has agreed to assist us in developing a theme song to the tune of "Ghost Busters." Any ideas for lyrics can be submitted to the newsletter editor at P.O. Box 953, Greenville, GA 30222.
