Manuscript Evaluation Submissions close on June 18, 2003.  The time and location of your manuscript evaluation on Saturday, July 19 will be in your registration packet.

A manuscript critique and a one-on-one meeting with an evaluator are available to registered conference participants for $40. Submit a two page synopsis and the first fifteen pages of your manuscript. Must be double spaced and typed or printed in 12 pt font on standard 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper. Secure with a paper clip only. No staples. No binders. 

Label your manuscript as to genre or type and specify your preferred evaluator (We cannot guarantee your first choice). 

Jenny Baumgartner (editor): any inspirational fiction except science fiction, fantasy, allegory, or horror. Especially interested in literary, women's, southern, contemporary, suspense, and mystery. 

Doris Booth (editor): mainstream commercial fiction, mystery / thriller / suspense, women's. Some historical fiction. 

Andrea Brown (agent): all children's books from picture books thru young adult novels.

Dennis Christen (screenplay): Will consider all types of manuscripts.

Bobbie Christmas (editorial service): Prefers NOT to evaluate fantasy, romance or religion. All others in either fiction or nonfiction are fine.

Lyn Deardorff (editor): children and young adult, selected self-help, guides to the South.

William Clark (agent): Prefers narrative non-fiction and literary fiction. No genre fiction, i.e. mystery, science fiction, detective, procedural, horror, etc. Will evaluate some self-help, but it has to stand apart from that genre, as in his titles DANTE'S PATH and THE MONEY TRAP. 

Marika Flatt (publicist): Will consult on any type of manuscript except poetry and sci-fi.

Jeff Herman (agent): general adult nonfiction, including business, reference, commercial self-help, computers, recovery/healing and spirituality.

Jim Hornfischer (agent): General nonfiction, Literary and commercial fiction. DOES NOT HANDLE genre romance, genre western, genre science fiction, genre mystery.

Patrick LoBrutto (editor): Fiction and Non-Fiction specializing in Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, Thrillers, Historical Fiction, Westerns, Military History and Mysteries.

Judy Long (editor): literary fiction, women's fiction, mystery, non-fiction. Especially anything with a Southern flavor.

Michele Pezzuti (editor): narrative nonfiction, self-help, health, diet/nutrition, sports/fitness, women's issues, pets, and any nonfiction manuscript, except Business, even if the subject does not fall under one of these categories

Bob Robison (agent): most genres other than science fiction, fantasy or biographies. 

Brant Rumble (editor) Literary Fiction, Narrative History, Memoir, Pop Culture, and Sports 

Jacky Sach (agent): CANCELLED APPEARANCE 

Michael Seidman (editor): anything under the broad spectrum of crime fiction: suspense, mystery of any kind; literary fiction and general mainstream. Will not review BFYR or YA, genre romance, genre fantasy, sf, or action/adventure. Anything else is fine. 

Greg Tobin (editor): almost any kind of manuscript except children's books. Prefers nonfiction, but will also review fiction.  

No more than one evaluation per participant will be accepted, please. Must be received no later than June 18. Make check for $40 payable to HAWC Manuscript Evaluations, and mail two copies of the writing sample directly to:
