Recruiting Teachers
Part of the GSTEP vision is to recruit high quality teacher candidates into teacher education programs, and eventually, into the classroom. GSTEP emphasizes recruitment of diverse and highly qualified individuals into education careers in content areas that are high-need teaching areas in Georgia. To better support prospective teachers, GSTEP facilitates student leadership through efforts such as the Student Ambassadors Program, and program enrichment through the Future Teacher Seminar Series.
GSTEP also believes that more and earlier experiences in the field of teaching help students to become better prepared for teaching. Therefore, GSTEP is working with teacher education programs to involve prospective teachers in diverse community and school experiences with youth and families early in their collegiate careers.
