Rules for Nominating a Title
Rules Governing the Nomination of Books for
The Georgia Children's Picture Storybook Award (K-4) and
The Georgia Children's Book Award (4-8)
- Newbery and Caldecott winners are ineligible. Honor books, however, are eligible.
- Only one title by any author may be included on the Book Award list.
- An illustrator or author may appear more than once on the Picture Storybook list if teamed with another person.
- Only titles published within the past five years are eligible.
- Only fiction will be considered.
- Titles must be in print.
- Authors and illustrators with books on preceding lists may be repeated, but not for a book on a preceding list.
- Winning authors and illustrators will be excluded from the competition the following year.
- Nominated authors and illustrators must be alive and living in North America (in reasonable proximity so that they might come to the conference to receive the award should they win).
- Books nominated for the awards should have literary and artistic merit and be free of negative stereotyping.
- Each list of nominees will include twenty titles.
