Research for Improving the Lives & Futures of Georgia’s Youth & Adults

Keynote Speaker

David C. Berliner
Regents Professor of Education Emeritus at Arizona State University

We are pleased to announce the Call for Proposals for the COE Faculty Research Conference, Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. The theme for this inaugural year is Research for Improving the Lives & Futures of Georgia’s Youth & Adults.  Conference events are scheduled from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Researchers from across the college will find a variety of ways to learn, engage, and interact with colleagues during sessions that have been developed by the conference planning committee including panel discussions, roundtables, invited speakers, and a poster/structured discussion period. The conference will conclude with a reception for Dr. David C. Berliner from 4 – 6 p.m. All COE faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend.

Results from the faculty survey conducted recently highlighted several topics of interest that will frame the panel session and the roundtables. Poverty in Education/Social Justice and Innovative Research Methods have been chosen as panel topics. Roundtables will be assembled around Evidence-Based Research, Teacher Education Research, Doctoral Research Preparation, and Innovations in Teaching and Technology.

Registration and call for proposals will end on January 23, 2013. All COE faculty are encouraged to submit an abstract. All submissions will be accepted.

We are also enlisting faculty members willing to lead roundtables. If you would be interested in being a facilitator for a roundtable, please respond to Grace Thornton, gthorn@uga.edu, by December 14, 2012. Please indicate the topic that is of most interest to you:
