UGA Center for Physical Activity and Health


Welcome to The Center for Physical Activity and Health. 

The Center supports research, teaching and public engagement activities for the Department of Kinesiology. The latest equipment and techniques are used to evaluate health and fitness and prescribe exercise. The program is designed for the individual who is interested in a supervised, structured and individualized exercise programming. The current expansion in service for the Center will accommodate both healthy adults and individuals with chronic diseases who have received physician clearance for participation in a supervised exercise program. The program emphasizes functional fitness exercises designed to improve health/fitness, independent living, and body composition.  We are proud to be a multiuse facility for our students and members.

Our Facility

Amenities of The Center Include:

  • 3,200 sq. ft. of exercise space
  • Cycle ergometers
  • Treadmills
  • Cross-Trainers and Ellipticals
  • Lifecycles
  • Entire line of strength training equipment machines
  • Resistance cable training system
  • Group aerobics floor
  • Wide variety of free-weights and stability balls
  • Yoga Mats
  • Padded Mats
  • Towel Service
  • Water Fountain
  • Access To Private Lockers
  • Blood Pressure Monitoring Equipment
  • Necessary emergency equipment to conduct supervised exercise programs for individuals with and without chronic diseases. 

In addition to the exercise space the center also utilizes the Clinical Testing Laboratory which is also housed in the Kinesiology Department.

The Clinical Testing Laboratory utilizes:

  • The latest integrated treadmills and electrocardiography
  • Emergency defibrillator and crash cart for physician supervised exercise stress testing.
  • Kinesiology faculty and students also have access to the equipment and facilities of the Center to conduct research.
