NEFE High School Financial Planning Program
Description: This seminar will assist high school teachers who teach personal finance education. This seminar will be useful for teachers in several content areas (i.e. family and consumer sciences, economics, and/or math). The materials in this High School Financial Planning Program are peer reviewed, current, and are an excellent resource for both teachers and their students. Although limited content areas were specifically identified as benefactors of this seminar, personal finance education is desperately needed for all age groups.
Proposed activities:
1. View the video on the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program
2. Introduce the High School Financial Planning Program’s website.
3. Provide an overview of the seven units of instruction and how they may be integrated into existing curriculum.
4. Examine the Georgia Performance Standards in selected content areas.
Objectives of the Workshop:
1. Explain the High School Financial Planning Program’s origin and importance in educating high school students about financial management in economic situations.
2. Identify and describe the content of the seven units of instruction offered in the program.
3. Identify and examine Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) that will be addressed in selected content areas.
Workshop Series Information:
Location: On-site at your school!
Cost: $5,000 includes one-day workshop on-location at your school for up to 50 participants; workshop materials, book and student guide for each participant.
