Academic Progress
A student must be admitted to doctoral candidacy within 6 years of beginning the program and then has an additional 5 years to complete the dissertation and the oral defense and final examination. Before being admitted to candidacy, a student must pass written and oral comprehensive examinations in the social studies program. Students must successfully defend their prospectus to their committee in addition to passing oral and written examinations.
