1st Year Cohort

Kate Parker Kate Parker grew up in Gettysburg, PA and earned her B.A. in Psychology from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 2008. Upon graduating, Kate continued her studies in elementary education at Wilson College. After earning her teaching certificate in 2010, she worked as a second grade teacher in Philadelphia and as a first grade teacher in a rural school district near Hershey, PA. Kate is working with Dr. Amy Reschly. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and exploring the great outdoors with her husband and two dogs
Patrick Morin Patrick Morin is originally from Clarksville, Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he received his B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Special Education. His research interests include intervention strategies, ADHD assessment and the relationship between socioeconomics and special education. He is currently working with Dr. Scott Ardoin. In his free time he enjoys cycling, cooking, hiking, and reading
Matthew Freiburger Matthew Freiburger is a first year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. He is originally from Indiana but grew up in Connecticut. After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in Psychology in 2006, he worked for three years as a research assistant at the Yale Child Study Center investigating the effects of prenatal cocaine exposure on adolescent stress reactivity. The two years between departing from Yale and beginning school at UGA was spent as a research assistant for Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He is currently under the advisement of Dr. Stacey Neuharth-Pritchett. When not engaging in academic activities, he enjoys the bounties of nature, taking in as much live music as possible and traveling to exotic locales.
Elisabeth Quintrell Elisabeth Quintrell is a first year student from Atlanta, GA. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in Cognitive Studies and Child Development. While at Vanderbilt Elisabeth became interested in peer relations and victimization, and is currently working with Michele Lease. During her free time Elisabeth likes to cook, and watch movies.
Cameron Oddone Cameron Oddone is originally from Durham, NC and moved to Atlanta, GA in 2006. She graduated from Emory University in 2010 with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. After graduating, Cameron spent two years working in a Psychology lab at Emory, researching maternal depression and its effect on young child development. Cameron entered the UGA School Psychology program in the fall of 2012. In her spare time, Cameron enjoys spending time with family and friends, visiting the beach, traveling, and skiing.
Chris Pinzone Chris Pinzone is from Long Island, New York and attended SUNY Stony Brook where he received his B.A. in English and B.A. in Psychology in 2010. He is working with Dr. Reschly. In his free time, he enjoys camping, hiking, playing percussion, and traveling to foreign countries.

2nd Year Cohort

Christina Simmons Christina Simmons is a second year student in the school psychology program. She is originally from New Jersey and received her B.A. in psychology and Spanish from Syracuse University. Christina became interested in autism after working one-on-one with a nonverbal teenager with autism to build her communication skills, and interning in recreation services for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). After graduation, she spent a year in Spain on a Fulbright Fellowship, teaching English in a bilingual high school and researching services for autism and teacher attitudes towards inclusion. She is currently working with Adjunct Professor Dr. Jonathan Campbell. Her research interest is in children with ASD, particularly alternative forms of communication, applied behavior analysis, and homeschooling best practice. Outside of school, Christina loves traveling, photography, listening to live music, cooking, playing sports, and spending time with friends.
Leslie Blevins Leslie Blevins is a second year student in the school psychology program. She is originally from Alabama and received her B.S. in psychology from Northeastern University in Boston. Between graduating and beginning the program at UGA, she worked as a special education middle school teacher in Baton Rouge, LA through Teach for America for two years. Additionally, Leslie worked for the Louisiana State Department of Education for 3 years in various roles including research, program development, and fundraising. She is currently working with Dr. Ardoin as a research assistant. When she is not busy with school, Leslie loves to paint and to listen to live music. Her favorite band is Blue October.
Jamil Gilliam Jamil M. Gilliam is a second year student from Spartanburg, South Carolina. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College and a Master of Education in Prevention Science and Practice from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Under the advisement of Dr. Amy L. Reschly, Jamil aims to create more positive academic and life outcomes for students who have a history of behavior and academic challenges by using positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS). She is also a court appointed special advocate for Athens-Oconee CASA. In her free time she enjoys watching sports (GO PANTHERS!!), baking and decorating cupcakes, listening to music and exploring vibrant nail polish hues.
A Zawoyski photo Andrea Zawoyski is a second year student from South Florida and earned her B.S. in psychology from the University of Florida. Andrea works as a research assistant for Dr. Ardoin and is currently helping with an exciting reading intervention study involving eye tracking! She is also interested in Applied Behavior Analysis and hopes to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Overall, Andrea enjoys living in Georgia, and is especially fond of the Jittery Joe’s near her house. She could do without the cold weather (meaning under 70 degrees), but is happy to not have to look at palm trees anymore. 3rd Year Cohort

Ashley Dubin is a third year doctoral student in the school psychology program. She is originally from Maryland and received her B.S. in psychology from the University of Maryland (go Terps!), where she researched temperament and child development. Between graduating from Maryland and coming to UGA, she worked at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore researching autism spectrum disorders. This remains her primary research interest, specifically with a focus on early detection and intervention. She is currently working with Dr. Jon Campbell on his autism screening project. When she is not busy with school, Ashley loves going out and listening to live music, cooking, watching college basketball, and hanging out with family and friends.
Tori Foster is a third-year student from Landenberg, PA. She graduated from the University of Richmond in 2008 with degrees in psychology and English/theatre. After graduation, she served as a 2008-2009 Fulbright ETA in Hwacheon, South Korea and taught English to K-6 students in a rural elementary school. Influenced by her experiences in Korea and the U.S., Tori is interested in reading and early intervention. She is currently a research assistant in Dr. Scott Ardoin’s lab and is excited to be getting practicum experience in Gwinnett County this year. Outside of the program, Tori enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, experiencing all that Athens has to offer, and traveling when she gets the chance.
Brittany Whipple is a third year student working with Dr. Michele Lease. She was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida and received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Florida. As such, she is a huge Gator fan (but is very happy to be in Athens!) Brittany is interested in peer relations and the effect children’s social interactions have on their academic achievement. In her spare time, you can normally find her spending time with friends, watching sports of some kind, or dancing at DanceFx!

4th Year Cohort

Stacy-Ann January Stacy-Ann January is a fourth-year student in the school psychology doctoral program. Although she is a native of Kingston, Jamaica, Stacy-Ann grew up primarily in Evanston, IL and Richmond, VA. In 2006, she graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in Psychology. Stacy-Ann was a 2006 Teach for America corps member and spent 3 years teaching in a low-income elementary school in Atlanta, GA. Currently, she is a research assistant for Dr. Scott Ardoin. When she is not engaged in research or school activities, Stacy-Ann enjoys trying new cuisine, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends
Lucia Dwyer is a fourth year doctoral student in the School Psychology Program. She graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in Psychology. Lucia works under the direction and supervision of Dr. Michele Lease and her research interests include peer popularity, leadership, and clique formation. She recently defended her thesis entitled “Examining the Adjustment of Popular Elementary-Aged School Children Using a Clinically-Normed Measure.” Lucia is completing a practicum in the Franklin County School District and is currently a graduate research assistant at the Regents’ Center for Learning Disorders on campus. In her free time, Lucia enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, and being outdoors.
Jeff Hine grew up in Sacramento, CA, and went to undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara. He interned at the Autism Research Center and decided to go to graduate school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. There, he got a Masters in Early Childhood Special Education while specializing in autism and applied behavior analysis. For the next three years he worked as a certified Behavior Analyst and educational consultant in Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia. His past interests included autism and early intervention. Currently a third year PhD student, he is interested in behavioral consultation to schools and families, applied behavior analysis, and problem behaviors. He teaches EPSY 4310/6310, a class in reducing problem behavior in the classroom..
Julie Knott Boyd Julie Knott Boyd is a fourth year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. She received her BA and BSW from the University of Mississippi. After graduation, she worked for the Department of Children’s Services for the State of Tennessee as the Court Liaison. After moving to Georgia, she spent five years working in an independent school as the Director of Admissions. She is currently working under Dr. Michele Lease, researching sociometric standing, friendship, and loneliness. Julie lives in Newnan with her husband, David
Devin Waldrop – Devin Waldrop is a 4th year student in the UGA School Psychology program. He is from Irmo, SC, and graduated with Honors from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in psychology. His advisor is Dr. Amy Reschly, and his research interests pertain to studying student engagement among college students.

5th Year Cohort

Chandra P. Carter Chandra P. Carter is a fifth year doctoral candidate. She is currently living her life like it’s golden while completing an APA approved internship with Virginia Beach City Public Schools. This year, Chandra plans to defend her dissertation before earning her doctorate and securing a position as a practicing school psychologist within a metropolitan school district. Her research interests include dropout prevention, student engagement, school and family partnerships, and multicultural factors related to counseling and assessment.
Jaimi McDonough Jaimi McDonough is originally from Seneca, South Carolina. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clemson University in 2008. Jaimi is interested in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) research and works with Dr. Jon Campbell. She enjoys spending time with her husband Zach and her dog Peanut.
Laura Morena was born and raised in Lilburn, GA. She received her B.S. in psychology from the University of Georgia. As a fifth year in the school psychology program, she is working with Dr. Scott Ardoin with research on reading prosody.
Ethan Schilling is originally from Connecticut and received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. After working for a while as a research assistant, he received a master’s degree in psychoanalytic developmental psychology from the Anna Freud Centre in London. Further research and professional interests in school psychology (primarily in students with special needs and/or those with pediatric health problems) led him to pursue his PhD in the field. He is currently working with Michele Lease and is exploring his interests in both school and pediatric psychology by examining issues relevant to this population within the schooling environment. In his spare time, Ethan likes to hang out with friends, read, watch movies (especially independent/artsy films) and loves music.

6th Year Cohort

Aila Dommestrup Aila Dommestrup is in her final year of the UGA School Psychology program. She is currently completing her pre-doctoral internship at The Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD where she is providing ABA services to children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Aila is completing her dissertation entitled, “Functional Analysis of Verbal Behavior for Children with Autism: A Partial Replication and Treatment Investigation,” examining the use of language by young children with autism and subsequent intervention effects.
Courtney Glueck Courtney Glueck is a sixth-year student from Baton Rouge, LA. She received her B.S. in psychology from Louisiana State University in 2007, and earned her M.A. in Educational Psychology from The University of Georgia with the successful defense of her Master’s Thesis in July of 2010. Her research interests fall in the area of school–family partnerships, and she is currently in the process of working on her dissertation, elaborating on the topic of home-school congruence in educational expectations examined previously through her thesis research. She is also very excited to be completing her internship this year with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools in Virginia Beach, VA and looks forward to graduating next year. In her precious free time, Courtney enjoys being with her friends, listening to music, exercising, and watching TV.
Before enrolling in the School Psychology Program at UGA to work with Dr. Amy Reschly, Matthew majored in psychology at the University of Tennessee, and then he worked as a special education teacher at a residential treatment center for boys with severe emotional and behavioral disorders in New Hampshire. It was this unique experience that sparked his interest in education, convincing him to pursue a degree in educational psychology. Matthew is currently a sixth-year Ph.D. student and doctoral candidate His main interest outside of education and psychology is music, and when not taking in a show downtown, he tries his own hand at songwriting.
