The Master of Education in Educational Psychology (M.Ed.) degree has a more applied emphasis than the M.A., and is primarily designed for students who intend to be practitioners in the schools. However, some students who are awarded the M.Ed. and teach for awhile, later opt to go on for a Ph.D. Having an M.Ed. does not preclude going on for the doctorate. The program requirements for the M.Ed. are listed below as a guide. Students in the M.Ed. degree program will take a minimum 37 and a final written comprehensive examination. The advisory committee may modify the outlined program of study according to the individual student’s needs. Equivalent courses may be substituted for those listed with equivalence determined by the student’s advisory committee. If equivalence is so determined, a written statement regarding equivalence is added to the student’s file.
