Technology Integration (TIP)
The former Department of Instructional Technology (now a unit of the
Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology in the
reorganized College of Education at the University of Georgia) went through
an external review in 2004 and the primary result of that review was that
our department was trying to do too much with too few resources. We were
advised to cut back on some of our programs, and after careful
consideration, we have decided to no longer admit students to the TIP
program. The next cohort of TIP students was to have been admitted in the
summer of 2006, but we will not be admitting that class.
As we move forward, we are encouraging educators who might have been
interested in the TIP program to consider our Instructional Design and
Development (IDD) program. The IDD Program served K-12 teachers prior to the
launch of the TIP program three years ago, and continues to do so today.
While this program is primarily based in Athens, we will continue to offer
many of our courses online and thus a student who plans their courses
carefully can take a substantial portion of their courses online rather than
in Athens. Two advantages of the IDD program are that it has a rolling
admission program, so students can apply to begin in any semester, and the
IDD Masters provides a foundation for alternative career opportunities in
sectors such as higher education and business and industry as well as K-12
education.
