School Psychology (SPY)

TRAINING MODEL

The School Psychology Program at UGA has designed a training model and curriculum that ensures graduates have well-developed practice and research competencies and are thus prepared for careers in practice- and research-based settings.  To achieve this outcome, doctoral students are required to gain Foundational Knowledge in three core domains: Psychological Foundations, Research Foundations, and Foundations of Professional Practice (PREP; see Figure 1).  Within and across content domains, emphasis is placed on the integration and application of knowledge in scientific and professional practice (see Figure 2).  Further, students are expected to acquire competencies in scientific and professional domains while adhering to ethical and legal standards and attending to issues related to individual differences and diversity.
