School Psychology (SPY)
Association of School Psychology (ASP)
The purpose of ASP is to enrich the educational and professional experiences of graduate students interested in the field of School Psychology. ASP is registered with the University and receives funding from the College of Education. ASP plans and sponsors a variety of events each school year. Twice per year, ASP organizes a Faculty-Student Forum, a time for students and faculty to meet and discuss pertinent program issues and concerns. Forum discussions have resulted in positive program changes and enhanced student-faculty communication.
ASP plans an Interview Day early in the spring semester for prospective School Psychology students to visit the school and meet students and professors. Last year’s interview day included a potluck dinner for faculty and students, informational and question/answer sessions, and lunch and happy hour with current students. Furthermore, ASP members held a new student orientation during the summer for the incoming cohort.
ASP funds are available to support student conference participation and travel. In addition, ASP sponsors several student events throughout the year, and members participate in various extracurricular activities, including intramural sports, dance classes, and exercise classes.
