Instructional Design and Development (IDD)

Here is a step-by-step account of how to apply to the IDD Cohort at Gwinnett:

  1. Be sure that the IDD program is right for you by reviewing the information on our web site. You should contact the Program Coordinator, if you have any general questions or concerns. You may also contact other faculty with questions or just to talk about your goals and whether our program is right for you.

  2. If you decide to apply, contact the Graduate School. All of the forms (Application, Recommendation letters) can be obtained from the UGA Graduate School Web site. There is also a complete on-line version of the UGA Gradute Bulletin. Specific questions about completing the application should be directed to the Graduate School. They can be reached by e-mail (gradadm@uga.edu), or phone (706-542-1739).

  3. Complete the application form and submit the application fee directly to the Graduate School Admissions Office. You are applying to the M.Ed.or the Ed.S. in Instructional Technology, non-certification. Our graduate school code is 444. (Note: Although we have changed our working name from Instructional Technology to Learning, Design, and Technology, the Graduate School still "knows" us as Instructional Technology.)

  4. Contact every college you attended and have them send two official transcripts directly to:

    Office of Graduate Admissions
    The Graduate School
    The University of Georgia
    Athens, Georgia 30602-7402

  5. Take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and attain acceptable test scores on the verbal and quantitative sections (individually and combined). These scores must be sent directly by the Educational Testing Service to the Graduate School Admission Office. International students must also submit an acceptable TOEFL score.

  6. Submit a Goal Statement that explains in detail (1-2 pages) your goals and why you are interested in the degree program to which you are applying (i.e. how your goals match up). Admission to each cohort is expected to be competitive, so take some time with this. Imagine that you are speaking to our Admissions Committee when you write this (it is usually the first thing that is read). This statement can be sent directly to the program coordinator at:

    IDD Program Coordinator
    Learning, Design, and Technology Program
Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology Department
    The University of Georgia
    Athens, GA 30602-7143

  7. Submit three letters of recommendation. It is your choice who writes these letters, but keep in mind that these letters should be written by individuals who are able to speak about your professional qualifications and your potential for success in graduate study. These letters can be sent directly to the Program Coordinator (forms are included in the application packet from the Graduate School or from their web site).

  8. Complete all of the required application materials so that they are received by the announced application deadline.

Tuition and Fees

Financial information about graduate tuition and fees can be found at the following Web site:

http://www.uga.edu/gradschool/financial/tuition.html

Additional information can be found at UGA Bursar's web site:

http://www.bursar.uga.edu/

All questions about tuition and fees need to be directed to the graduate school and/or the bursar's office because the program coordinator and faculty are not involved in the student's financial aspects of graduate education.
