Instructional Design and Development (IDD)Admission Requirements - Ed.S.The decision to admit an applicant to a degree program is based on a careful review of the entire application. The goal statement and letters of recommendation are particularly important. Acceptable GPAs and test scores are required as per the following:
*The analytical section of the GRE is not used in the admissions decision. All international applicants must also take the TOEFL exam. The minimum score for this exam is 213 for the computer version, or 550 for the printed version. Prerequisite A Master's degree (MA/M.Ed) in education, with or without teacher certification is required for admittance to the Specialist program. A successful record of teaching full-time for a minimum of 3 years in a K-12 school is required. General Degree Requirements The University of Georgia Specialist's degree program consists of a minimum of 30 graduate level semester hours. Students must maintain a 3.0 average in all graduate courses in their programs of study. During the course of their program of study, students are required to develop a portfolio of products which reflects the skills that they have developed and the knowledge they have gained within the program. The portfolio serves as the basis of a comprehensive oral examination which is required at the end of the student's program.(Click here to go to the IDD Portfolio Management page.)
