George Hynd

George W. Hynd, Ed.D.


Professor Emeritus of the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology, University of Georgia, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology, Medical College of Georgia. In addition to having been an elementary teacher and school psychologist, Dr. Hynd has been a post-doctoral Fellow in Clinical Neuropsychology and is the recipient of the Lightner Witner Award (APA, Division 16) for early career achievements. He was a Fulbright Fellow in Child Neuropsychology in Finland at The University of Jyvaskyla. He is a licensed psychologist. His research and clinical interests are in pediatric neuropsychology and school psychology. Recent NIH-funded research has focused on functional brain morphology using MRI and fMRI in developmental dyslexia, psychiatric comorbidity in learning disabilities and ADHD, and neurolinguistic deficits in reading disabled children. Dr. Hynd also is the Director of the Center for Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology. He is a Fellow in APA Division 16 (School Psychology) and 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology). He is also a Fellow in the National Academy of Neuropsychology and is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society and the Society for Research in Child and Adolescent Psychopathology.
